Meet the Team
James Oakley
Owner
James started out on large commercial projects and residential renovations, and spent a couple of years working as a service electrician after becoming a journeyman in 2019. Shortly after earning his FSR Class B certification in 2021, he founded Oakwest. He enjoys troubleshooting electrical problems and seeing projects come to life from start to finish. What he values most is leading a team where everyone feels supported and proud of the work they accomplish together. Outside of work, James enjoys being outdoors biking, golfing, riding his motorbike and running. He’s completed 3 half marathons and aims to continue working towards running full marathons in the future.
Kiel Pitt
Lead Electrican
Kiel takes pride in leaving every customer satisfied and has been passionate about electrical work ever since a chance encounter at a car show in 2006 led to his first job as an apprentice. Since then, he’s tackled some incredible projects, including installing a stunning $28,000 Bocci light fixture in a custom home that took three days to complete. Outside of work, you’ll often find him golfing, snowboarding, or diving into his next DIY home renovation project.
Bobby Burkmar
Lead Electrican
Bobby loves the variety of electrical work he gets to tackle each day and the camaraderie that comes with working alongside a great team. After graduating high school, he knew he wanted a trade that would keep him busy year-round. Electrical has been the perfect fit and he now has 28 years of experience in the field. One of his proudest achievements was helping bring a custom home in West Vancouver to life from start to finish. When he’s not on the tools, you’ll usually find him riding his motorcycle, snowboarding, playing soccer, or spending time with his family.
Matt Garb
Foreman
With 14 years in the trade, Matt thrives on leading the crew and mapping out projects from the first wire to the final walkthrough. Electrical work runs in the family, with both his dad and stepdad passing down their knowledge and their focus on safety. Around the dinner table, Matt often finds himself quizzed on everything from work scenarios to hockey stats, a tradition that keeps him sharp and laughing. When he’s off the clock, you’ll find him with his wife and son, who he says is his proudest accomplishment. And if the house is quiet, chances are Matt’s in the garage happily organizing every tool into its perfect place.
